Tool path planning based on Feature Priorities

  Arvind Rangarajan

Sponsored By: CODEF

Abstract

A new practical tool-path planning scheme for exit burr minimization has been developed. This is based on assigning priorities to various features that require sharp edges. A detailed algorithm has been developed to identify and eliminate burr formation in the most critical edges of the given part. The scheme is currently being implemented to create a comprehensive tool path planning system for face milling. The scheme was successfully verified by experiments conducted at Daimler-Chrysler.
