Finite Element Simulation for Burr Formation Study

  Borlin Shyu

Sponsored By: CODEF

Abstract

CODEF (Consortium on Deburring and Edge Finishing) has a long history of research on burr formation and minimization. One of the objectives of this research is a computer simulation framework which helps users easily do CAD (Computer Aided Design) of drills and other tools with finite element analysis verification for burr prevention. Major components of this software framework are under improvement to further strengthen and extend their capabilities. The current focus is on the finite element simulations of burr formation.
