Progress
and innovation are necessary to sustain market leadership for automotive
companies. Advanced manufacturing engineering is a core competency required
to make quality automobiles. Complete understanding of each of the manufacturing
processes used in the production of the automobile is important. This
report describes a framework that helps identify and preserve those
core competencies, suggest avenues to expand those in the future to
maintain market leadership, and to clearly identify the stages where
innovation or significant improvement is immediately necessary. P4 is
a scientific approach for aggressive manufacturing.
