Influence of Work Hardening Effect on the Exit Burr Formation in 2 Consecutive Ortogonal Cuttings

 Jihong Choi

Sponsored By: CODEF

Abstract

In an orthogonal cutting which consist of two consecutive cutting process, the work-hardening effect induced by the first process is expected to have an influence on the final burr formation. By finite element simulation and experiment, the optimal depth of cut of the first cut for a minimal final exit burr size will be obtained.

Keywords: exit burr formation, finite element method, orthogonal cutting.
